Website Terms and Conditions

1. About us

This website is operated by [full legal name, trading as business name].

Website: [website URL]
Business address: [geographical business address]
Email: [contact email]
Telephone: [contact telephone number]
Company registration details: [if applicable]
VAT number: [if applicable]

These terms apply to your use of our website and purchases of physical books directly from us as a consumer.

2. Our books

The product page describes each book, including its format, edition and any signed or personalised features.

Photographs are illustrative, and screen settings may affect how colours appear. This does not affect your right to receive goods matching their description.

3. Orders and payment

Please check your order and delivery details before paying.

After ordering, you will receive an acknowledgement. We accept your order when we send a dispatch confirmation, at which point a contract is formed.

[Confirm that this acceptance process matches your checkout and order emails.]

If we cannot accept an order because an item is unavailable, payment fails or there is an error requiring clarification, we will contact you. Any payment taken for an order we do not accept will be refunded promptly.

We will not increase an agreed price or substitute a different product without your agreement.

4. Prices

Prices are shown in [currency] and include applicable taxes that we are required to include.

Delivery charges and other charges payable to us are displayed before you place your order.

For international orders, checkout will explain whether import taxes, duties and handling charges are included, collected in advance or payable separately upon import. Where a charge cannot reasonably be calculated in advance, we will explain how it is determined.

5. Delivery

We deliver to the destinations available at checkout using Royal Mail or the delivery service identified with your order.

Dispatch and delivery estimates are shown on [delivery information page] and at checkout. Pre-order dates or longer delivery periods will be made clear before purchase.

Unless we agree a different delivery period with you, we will deliver without undue delay and within 30 days of accepting your order.

If your order is late, missing or damaged, contact [email address]. We will investigate and provide the remedy required by your consumer rights. You do not have to pursue our delivery provider yourself.

The goods remain our responsibility until you, or a person you nominate to receive them, take physical possession.

6. Cancelling an ordinary book order

You may cancel an order for a non-personalised book without giving a reason, from placing the order until 14 days after the day you receive it. If one order is delivered in separate parts, this period runs from receipt of the last item.

To cancel, email [email address] or write to [business address], clearly stating that you wish to cancel. You may use the form below, but you do not have to.

After telling us you are cancelling, send the book back within 14 days to:

[returns address]

You pay the direct cost of returning a change-of-mind purchase. We cover reasonable return costs where goods are faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied.

You may inspect the book as you would in a shop. We may deduct an amount reflecting any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature and characteristics.

7. Cancellation refunds

If you cancel your whole order, we refund the price paid and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option. Any extra paid for a premium delivery service is not refundable under the change-of-mind cancellation right.

We refund within 14 days after receiving the returned goods or, if earlier, evidence that you sent them back. If the goods have not been dispatched, we refund within 14 days after you tell us you are cancelling.

Refunds use your original payment method unless we agree otherwise, without a refund fee.

8. Personalised books

If a book is made to your specifications or clearly personalised—for example, with a dedication addressed to a named person—the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right may not apply. We will identify this before purchase.

An ordinary signed copy without customer-specific personalisation is covered by our normal cancellation terms.

Personalisation does not remove your rights if a book is faulty, damaged or not as described.

9. Faulty or incorrect goods

Your books must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their purpose and match their description.

If there is a problem, contact [email address] with your order details. Depending on the circumstances, your rights include rejection and a refund, repair, replacement or a price reduction.

The change-of-mind deadlines above do not limit these rights. Under UK consumer law, the short-term right to reject faulty goods is normally 30 days, with further rights available afterwards.

We will cover reasonable return costs where required.

10. Website content and use

Copyright in our original writing, photographs, artwork and other website content belongs to us or the relevant rights holder.

You may browse the website and keep copies of your order information for personal use. Other copying, distribution or commercial use requires permission unless permitted by law.

You must not misuse the website, introduce malicious software or attempt unauthorised access.

11. Our responsibility

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing removes your statutory consumer rights.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Buying a book does not, by itself, mean you agree to receive marketing emails.

13. Complaints and applicable law

Contact [email address] with any complaint so we can try to resolve it.

These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland—select the appropriate jurisdiction].

This choice does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections applicable in your country of residence or prevent you from bringing proceedings in a court available to you under applicable law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future orders. The version supplied when you place your order applies to that purchase.
